Charity of the Year 2026
During our 2025 Gala Dinner, we announced that Taff Ely Foodbank is our charity of the year for 2026. This means that all of our fundraising efforts from concerts and events for the year will be donated towards this worthy cause.
At the dinner, Taff Ely Foodbank's CEO Andrew Butcher spoke to us about this worthy cause.
They believe that no one in our community should face hunger. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people in Taff-Ely.
They are part of a nationwide community of food banks, supported by Trussell, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Taff-Ely Foodbank, previously known as Pontyclun Foodbank, was started by Bethel Baptist Church, Pontyclun in October 2009. As other centres were opened locally the foodbank was renamed Taff-Ely Foodbank. In August 2021, Taff-Ely Foodbank decided to become a registered charity in its own right.
They also offer holistic support and advice to people, often at their toughest moment, in two ways: through funding advisers at the food bank, and through other external advice services.
This wraparound approach connects people with wider support and puts more money into their pockets, making it far less likely someone will need a food bank in the future.
Having previously raised £8,700 for Boomerang Cardiff, £7800 for St. David's Hospice and more than £3000 for the Jacob Abraham Foundation, we're so glad to be supporting Taff Ely Foodbank in 2026.
